Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 22, 2026 · Applies to PhotoPure for macOS, iOS & iPadOS

1. Overview — Privacy by Design

PhotoPure is built on a single principle: your photos are yours alone. The application does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, photos, metadata, or telemetry with any server, third party, or cloud service. Everything happens on your device and stays there.

2. Data Collection

We collect nothing. PhotoPure does not collect:

  • Photos or image content
  • File names, paths, or metadata
  • Device identifiers or usage statistics
  • Crash reports transmitted off-device
  • Location, contacts, or any other personal information

3. The AI Engine — Built On-Device, By the Developer

PhotoPure uses a custom AI analysis engine developed entirely by the application's developer — not a third-party AI service, not a cloud model, not an external API. The engine is built on Apple's on-device machine learning capabilities (Vision framework, CoreML, Neural Engine) and processes your photos entirely within your device's hardware. No image, pixel, hash value, or analysis result ever leaves your device.

Technical methods used (all on-device):

  • pHash + SHA-256 — exact duplicate detection via perceptual hashing and cryptographic hash
  • VNFeaturePrintObservation — Apple Vision framework visual similarity matching, running on your Neural Engine
  • Aesthetic quality scoring — brightness, blur, noise analysis to identify the best copy
  • Temporal burst detection — identifying consecutive burst shots by creation timestamps

4. Platform-Specific Data Access

iOS & iPadOS

PhotoPure accesses your photo library exclusively through Apple's PHPhotoLibrary framework, via the standard system permission dialog. You control the scope of access — you may grant full library access or limit it to selected photos. The app reads photos only for analysis and removes duplicates only upon your explicit confirmation.

macOS

The app operates only on the folder you explicitly select via the standard file picker. No system-wide scanning is performed. No file outside the selected folder is accessed. Duplicates are moved to a subfolder — not deleted.

5. No Network Access

PhotoPure does not make any outbound network requests during analysis. The application does not connect to any server, API, or analytics endpoint while processing your photos. The only network activity is limited to loading the App Store page (when using the in-app App Store button) and in-app support e-mail links — both initiated exclusively by the user.

6. App Store & Apple Compliance

PhotoPure is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store and complies with Apple's App Store Review Guidelines and Apple's Privacy Nutrition Labels. The application's declared data practices reflect the actual behavior of the software. PhotoPure is sandboxed, hardened-runtime enabled, and adheres to Apple's platform security requirements on both macOS and iOS/iPadOS.

7. GDPR (European Union)

PhotoPure does not process personal data as defined under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). Since no data leaves your device and no data is collected, stored, or processed by the developer, the GDPR lawful basis requirements are not applicable. Users in the EU can confirm: no data is transmitted to any controller or processor.

8. CCPA (California, United States)

PhotoPure does not sell personal information. PhotoPure does not collect personal information. Accordingly, California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) opt-out rights are not applicable, as there is nothing to opt out of. No personal information is sold, shared, or disclosed to any third party.

9. KVKK (Turkey)

PhotoPure does not process any personal data during photo analysis under Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK). As the data controller, the developer does not carry out any personal data collection, storage, or transfer. All analysis is performed exclusively on the user's device; no data is transmitted to developer servers or third-party systems.

10. Children's Privacy

PhotoPure is not directed at children under 13. The application does not knowingly collect any information from children. The App Store age rating for PhotoPure is 4+, meaning it contains no objectionable content — not that it is specifically designed for children.

11. Changes to This Policy

The developer may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected at this URL (photopure.onuryasar.org/privacy.html). The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the application after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
